Let’s give a tinsmith a break

Patrick Cunningham working tinA sale benefiting a craftsman in need.

Patrick Cunningham, master tinsmith and ardent student of the industrial arts of the early 19th Century, was injured in an accident last November. Patrick was working on an architectural restoration job when he fell and broke his femur.

In early February, he underwent major surgery to plate, pin and wire his leg back together. After three months of recuperation, including many weeks largely flat on his back, he was finally told he could start walking with a cane or crutch.

Now after five months, he is trying to get his household and tinshop back in order, but he needs lots of help and the medical bills are really piling up.

Unfortunately, doctors don’t take chickens like they did in the 1840’s.

Many people know Patrick from his days at Conner Prairie, Sturbridge Village, Slate Run Historical Farms, Hancock Shaker Village, Billings Farm Museum, Museum of Early Trades, and many others. Patrick is a strident protector of history, a religious follower of the earlier ways. Patrick Cunningham has given days upon days of unreimbursed service to his community, and now it is our turn to help.

His friends herein, have decided to hold a sale, to the 100% benefit of Patrick.

Please, take a little time, look at the items we’ve assembled below. In most cases, these are originals, fine hand-crafted historic reproductions, folk art, or works of art you will appreciate. We, his friends (and Patrick and Vicki) are not asking for handouts. Please find something you can buy from this list, knowing the whole of the proceeds are going to help someone who has already helped you and us.
